Hello friends and Crate Paper fans!! Welcome to the Crate Paper Autumn Blog Hop! Today I'll be sharing a tealy little owl tag with a secret pull out tab!
Let's get started right away with the tutorial (and while you're here don't forget to collect all of the secret letters from each of the CP Girls DT blogs (my secret letter MIGHT be on my side bar)).
Collecting the letters will spell a phrase and give you a chance to win a $100 gift certificate from Scrapbook.com (you can do a lot of damage with $100 on scrapbook.com (and if you win you have to buy something teal in my honor... you gotta promise))!!!
Tealy Owl Tag Tutorial...
Firstly... all papers used in this tutorial are from the Crate Paper - Brook Collection (seen HERE).
I love it because...
a) it's got a lot of teal in it so it's totally my favorite collection on the entire planet and
b) it's got a lot of teal in it so it's totally my favorite collection...
oh wait. I already said that! hehehe
Raise your hand if you love teal!!!!
...and if anyone sees you raising your hand while looking at the computer...
...tell them Lolly made you do it...
.they'll understand.
I started with a simple little owl shape.
I cut out owl parts from various pieces of Crate Paper and then punched a ton of leaves using a Martha Stewart leaf punch (you can see it HERE).
(this is one of those punches I use over and over again!!!)
I curled the ends of the leaves with my fingers and inked the edges with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain (seen HERE).
This brown ink has officially become my new favorite!!!
I have been using it so much I had to get a refill!!!
I started gluing and layering the leaves on top of the central portion of my owl body.
(there is no need to cut off those stems)
Keep in truckin'!
Layering your way up to the top!
...and if you've read my blog for a while you'll recognize this same owl body leaf layering dealy bob from my owl bag a few months ago!
(only I used felt leaves for that fella... you can check him out HERE)!
The fully covered front should look something like this...
...and the back will look like this...
Psst... the reason you can see through this paper is because I used vellum!
Trim around the shape of the owl body template (the top edge only)!
This will round things off nicely and give the top a nice finished edge!
Once complete, place the finished leafy body piece with the other pieces...
You should have something owltastic like this!
I used dimensional adhesive on each of the various pieces to give him even more dimension!
Once he was complete, I cut out two tag shapes from more of the Crate Paper - Brook Collection papers.
I created a little ruffled edge using a border punch from Martha Stewart and a strip from a brown paper lunch sack! I stitched the ruffle between the two tags and sewed all the way around all of the edges but one (I left the right side open for my secret tab)!
I started assembling the tag with my owl shape and floral chipboard and stickers from the Brook Collection!
(you gotta love those ZapDots from Helmar!!!)
Can you tell which element is the secret tab????
PEEP!
There it is!
I wrote "Thankful for..." on the edge...
...and...
on the tag itself I wrote "...being blessed with the most wonderful family!"
(it's completely the truth... I have a super amazing family)!
I love all of the dimension in that little owl body!
I could just give that guy a little hug and a half!
Here is a close-up so you can see all the yummy layers!
I decided to frame my little tag with his peepy secret pull out tab!
He's gonna look fabulous on my mantel with all of my other teal and lime greeny goodness!
...and that's all she wrote!
In order to continue in the hop you'll have to head on back to the Crate Paper Blog (and make sure you collect all of the letters on each DT members blog so you can have a chance to win that super fabulous prize!!!)! Just click on the image below to get back to the Crate Paper blog!

Can't wait for tomorrow's LWP!!! I'm in serious Lolly withdrawal. It looks like it's going to be a really fun class. I can't wait to learn how to do the image transfer on the fabric.
My store is going to be carrying this kit, but it's still on order from Prima. They are pretty quick with shipping, they should be in stock within a week or so.
Have I mentioned how excited I am for a LollyChops show, cuz I really am :)
Hugs,
Kristina
